Love those old boxes – elegant and evidence of importance. New boxes look cheaper (USPS surely saved some bucks). Carries implied suggestion that what is in the box is cheap too. Seems like, to paraphrase W. Churchill, “We construct our buildings (PO Boxes too?) and then our buildings (PO Boxes too?) construct our lives. Perhaps, by conversion to uninspiring boxes and newly constructed PO buildings, we are saying that our mail is not that important anyway. Function following form?
